An illegal substance, Mephedrone is also commonly known as meow-meow and M-Kat. Belonging to the amphetamine family of narcotics, the feelings experienced when consuming Mephedrone is somewhat similar to those that users receive upon taking Ecstasy.
Sadly, as the demand for Mephedrone has grown significantly in recent years, the number of people requiring Mephedrone addiction treatment has soared.
If you have unfortunately become addicted to Mephedrone, and find yourself unable to escape the vicious cycle that addictions impose, please contact us for support. The sooner you secure treatment for your Mephedrone addiction, the better.

Mephedrone Was Once A Legal High
Across the United Kingdom, Mephedrone was commonly purchased over the Internet and labelled as plant food. Mephedrone was a so-called ‘legal high’ in the United Kingdom until the Government reclassified the drug as a Class B illegal drug in April 2010.
Typically sold in a powdered form, Mephedrone is administered in a similar way to cocaine and amphetamines. It is also possible to consume Mephedrone in pill form.
Upon consuming Mephedrone, users state that they feel a sense of euphoria wash over them. Many also confirm that the drug sees them feel more sociable and friendly.

Start your Recovery - Call us nowHow Does An Individual Become Addicted To Mephedrone?
As touched on above, many individuals who have consumed Mephedrone state that consuming the drug provides a sense of euphoria and a boost in confidence. Although these side-effects may be desired, they are often short-lived.
Sadly, as the side-effects of Mephedrone wear off, individuals are left feeling sluggish, anxious and paranoid. As many individuals will consume Mephedrone to alleviate stress and mental health disorders, they often find that the feelings associated with anxiety and depression are also much more severe having consumed Mephedrone. In order to once again experience sensations such as euphoria, larger quantities of Mephedrone are gradually consumed.
Regrettably, as more significant amounts of Mephedrone are consumed, the higher an individual’s tolerance for the drug becomes. This will eventually mean that extreme quantities of the drug will be required to experience the ‘high’ that it provides.
Those who regularly consume Mephedrone will also believe that they are unable to navigate day-to-day life without the support of the drug. This ultimately sees many become reliant on drug consumption.
Although many fail to realise it, this is how the cycle of addiction commences.
The Dangers Associated With Frequent Mephedrone Use
As an individual becomes addicted to Mephedrone and begins to rely on the drug to help them cope with any thoughts and feelings they experience on a daily basis, the dangers associated with frequent Mephedrone use are often overlooked.
However, as with many other drugs, various physical and psychological dangers come hand-in-hand with consuming Mephedrone.
To provide you with greater insight into the dangers associated, we have provided just a handful of the commonly experienced illnesses and health problems encountered when Mephedrone is consumed below.
- Severe nosebleeds
- Heart and cardiovascular damage
- Hallucinations
- Risk of fits
- Memory loss
- Heightened mental health disorders
- Risk of overdose
- Risk of hospitalisation
- Risk of death
Mephedrone Addiction Treatment

If you find yourself in need of treatment, at Ocean Recovery Centre, we can provide you with just that. Our Mephedrone addiction treatment programmes can cater to your personal addiction and recovery needs and help you make a long-term recovery.
Our Mephedrone Addiction Treatment Programmes
When you decide that the time is right for you to seek treatment for your Mephedrone addiction, we can welcome you to our private residential drug and alcohol rehab to embark on a Mephedrone addiction treatment programme.
Our treatment programmes are industry-leading and have helped thousands of individuals, who just like you, have silently struggled with an addiction.
At Ocean Recovery Centre, we know that no one addiction is the same, which is why all of our Mephedrone addiction treatment programmes are entirely bespoke to each individual’s needs.
As you enter our facility, our medical professionals will take the time to understand how your addiction has impaired your life and will gauge the physical and psychological ramifications that your addiction has had on your well-being.
In doing so, our team can determine the treatment that will need to be incorporated into your personalised treatment programme, and ensure that you are provided with the support you need.
Although our treatment programmes are entirely bespoke, the basis of all of our programmes consists of detoxification, rehabilitation and aftercare support.
Detoxification
As you commence treatment at our rehab, the first stage in your treatment programme will consist of detoxification.
Often medically induced, detoxification will essentially see you withdraw from Mephedrone. Throughout detoxification, it is not uncommon for various withdrawal symptoms to be encountered. Although this may seem alarming, we can assure you that this is entirely normal.
To help you progress through detoxification, you will be provided with around the clock care and support.
Rehabilitation
Having completed your detoxification programme, you will then move onto the rehabilitation stage of your Mephedrone addiction treatment.
Unlike detoxification, rehabilitation is not medically induced. Instead, rehabilitation employs many psychological and well-being therapies which all encourage you to come to terms with the factors that have caused your addiction to arise. In doing so, you will be able to develop coping strategies that will mitigate your chances of relapsing in the future.
Aftercare Support
Having completed your Mephedrone addiction treatment, we will provide you with 12-months of free aftercare support. This aftercare support comprises weekly group therapy sessions and one-to-one therapy, should it be needed.
